Bunch Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Bunch app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Bunch is operated by Be a Bunch S.L., registered in Spain (“we”, “us”, “our”).

The short version

• We collect what we need to match you with people and Bunches and to let you chat.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use sensitive personal information for advertising. If we introduce sponsored or promoted experiences in the future, we will explain this clearly.
• Your quiz answers, personality scores and exact location are never shown to other users. Optional questions stay optional, and you can delete your account at any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us:

• Account details: information you provide on registration. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form.
• Personality quiz: your answers to our 20-question personality quiz and the personality scores calculated from them.
• Interests: the interest tags you select.
• Optional background information: personal circumstances (which may include information about disabilities) and countries of heritage. These questions are optional. Because this can be sensitive information, we only collect it if you actively choose to provide it, and we use it only to improve relevance, matching and community suggestions. You can remove this information at any time. Where required by law, we will ask for your explicit consent before processing this information.
• Messages and activity: the amount of messages you send, without seeing the content and the Bunches you create or join.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Information collected automatically:

• Precise location: with your permission, we use your phone’s GPS location to show you Bunches and people near you. You can turn location access off at any time in your phone’s settings, but nearby suggestions will not work without it.
• Device information: device type, operating system, app version and a notification token so we can send you push notifications.
• Technical logs: IP address, timestamps and error reports, used to keep the service secure and working.

Bunch does not access your phone’s contacts. When you share a bunch with friends, the app opens your phone’s own share menu, and we do not see who you send it to.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account.
• To suggest compatible people and bunches, based on your quiz results, interests, optional background information and location.
• To deliver messages and send notifications.
• To keep Bunch safe, prevent abuse and enforce our rules.
• To fix problems and improve the app.
• To contact you about important changes to the service.

Matches are suggestions only. You always decide whether to join a bunch or connect with anyone.

3. Who we share information with

• Authorities, when we are required to by law or need to protect the safety of our users or others.
• Service providers who help us run Bunch: Microsoft Azure (hosting, database and notification delivery), and Apple and Google push notification services (to deliver notifications to your phone). They may only use your information to provide these services to us.
• A new owner, if Bunch is involved in a merger or sale. This policy would continue to apply to your information.

4. What other users can see

Other members can see your name, your profile photo and the messages you send in Bunches you belong to. Your quiz answers, personality scores, optional background information and exact location are never shown to other users.

5. Storage and security

Your information is stored on Microsoft Azure servers located in Frankfurt, Germany.

If information is transferred to another country, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place. All data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to people who need it to run the service.

No system is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information. Messages you sent in shared Bunches may remain visible to other members but will no longer be linked to your profile. We may keep limited information longer if the law requires it.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, download or delete your personal information, to object to or limit how we use it, and to withdraw consent.

• Edit your profile, interests and optional background information in the app.
• Turn off location access or notifications in your phone’s settings.
• Delete your account in the app under [Settings > Delete account].
• For any other request, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also file a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

8. Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use Bunch and meet any higher minimum age required by applicable law.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date above, and if the changes are significant we will let you know in the app before they take effect.
